Welcome to the
Prairie Infection and Immunity Network (PIIN)
The Prairie Infection and Immunity Network (PIIN) is an investigator-driven collection of researchers from academia, industry and government in Manitoba and Saskatchewan with wide-ranging research interests into the mechanisms of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
The mission of PIIN is to promote health research and education through scientific networking, mentorship and career development opportunities for trainees and researchers across the prairies.

Our Story

Founded in 2008 by a collaborative group of researchers from the University of Saskatchewan, University of Manitoba, Canadian Food Inspection Agency and the National Microbiology Lab, PIIN organizes biennial scientific meetings with alternating host cities across Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
The philosophy of our PIIN meetings is to create a collaborative and interactive learning environment in a relaxed and enjoyable setting for our researchers.

The aim of PIIN meetings is to help foster impactful research collaborations between the two provinces across multiple areas of human and animal health research, with a focus on immunological and infectious disease-centric approaches. These meetings will help strengthen regional links between research institutes and universities from across the prairies to build upon collaborative efforts that benefits the health and welfare of regional, national and international communities.
